NEIMUN CONFERENCE 2024

NEIMUN is a youth leadership conference organized by the NEIMUN Foundation and one of the first and premier Model United Nations in North East India. Anchored in the principles of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, the conference aims to address critical issues affecting the region, including drugs, small arms trade, poverty and conflict arising from the climate crisis. The North East India International Model United Nations (NEIMUN) seeks to be a transformative and inspiring youth leadership conference aimed at inspiring impact and empowering voices of young leaders from across the Northeast region of India.

NEIMUN through this youth leadership conference hopes to create a platform for meaningful dialogue, skill enhancement, networking opportunities,  and a life changing journey that equips youths of the region to lead actions in their communities and beyond.

Conference Objectives:
  1. Knowledge for Empowerment: NEIMUN 2024 aims to equip young leaders with a deep understanding of leadership, sustainable and social development, focusing on issues like small arms trade, drug use, and climate change, empowering them to create positive societal changes.
  2. Comprehensive Peacebuilding: This conference seeks to enhance youth capabilities in addressing conflict-related factors, such as drug issues, the spread of small arms, and climate change.
  3. UNSCR 2250 Focus: In line with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, the event will explore ways to amplify youth participation in peace and security, enabling them to tackle regional challenges.
  4. Cultural Collaboration: NEIMUN 2024 will promote interactions among diverse youth from Northeast India, fostering unity, understanding, and appreciation of the region's cultural richness.
  5. Empowering Young Leaders: NEIMUN is dedicated to providing young leaders with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to tackle complex challenges and drive development in their communities and beyond.
  6. NEIMUN goes Green: A key aspect of every NEIMUN conference is promoting sustainable development and implementing eco-friendly practices throughout the event.

Participants 
  1. Any student who is currently a student in their higher secondary (Class 11 & 12), undergraduate, post graduate, or any young professional can participate in the conference. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy will be implemented in selecting the young leaders from all the states of  North East India. Participants will be selected through an open application call for registration.
