The NEIMUN Social Impact Program is an educational project introduced under the NEIMUN Initiative 2015. North East India is a land nestled with natural beauty and wonders adorned by rich cultural heritage and traditions. At the same side, this region is a land imprisoned with under development in social issues and darkened with conflict and violence. In line with its current scenario, the program aims to build a network with communities to analyze social situations and investigate problems to propose pratical solutions and mechanisms. The program engage  interested enthusiastic youth to take up the lead in analyzing situations and draft constructive plans to mitigate the problems. It is a program that challenge youths to play a key role in social transformation.

Key Areas:
NEIMUN Social Impact Program focuses on three key developmental areas in context to the Northeast Region with its Main Agenda- Sustainable Development Goals: Taking it forward to North East India.

1. Environment and Climate Change
  • Studying the proximity of environmental issues and its impacts on the Indigenous People and Culture
  • Relooking environment sustainability in NE India
  • Climate Change and Adaptation Mechanisms
  • Greening Human Values

2. Gender Equality and Empowerment
  • Investigating policies and ground situations of violence towards women
  • Situation of women in governance and decision making at different levels
  • Rights violations of women in conflict areas

3. Youth Development and Empowerment
  • Inter-cultural youth dialogue
  • Youth in peace building process
  • Institutional mechanisms for youth leadership- policies and measures

Project Expectations and Preliminary Work:
The Social Impact Program is a project that expect certain degree of deliverables at ground situation where youths involved will be working to deliver the ground mission after the actual action plan drafting. In totality the youth involved will be known as “NEIMUN Fellows”, they are the working group for the NEIMUN Action Plan 2015. This working group will be drafting this action plan during the NEIMUN annual conference guided by a structure and process prepared  by the Project Governing body.

The expected basic work of the NEIMUN fellows prior to the conference are: -
  • Research on the main agenda and its key areas
  • Studying existing policies and measures of the key areas in NE India
  • Situational analysis of the key areas
  • Identify certain NGOs working in line with the key areas and building a network with such bodies
  • Identify potential partners that can help in delivering the project mission into the ground
  • Prepare a proposition and mechanisms to practical solutions

Work during the conference: -
  • Action plan will be drafted during the conference
  • Activities and ground work of the program will be discussed
  • Proper budgeting and tracking systems
  • Finalizing the partners and sponsors

Expected Outcomes:
The expected outcomes and policies along with the details will be discussed and put into the negotiation table at the time of the conference.

Reviewing Process:
The Social Impact Program reviewing process will be discussed and pen it down during the conference.

Plan Sheets of the Program: 
  • Attending the Opening Ceremony and training programs
  • Presentation of 10 minutes for each fellow
  • 1st tabling, 2nd tabling and  3rd tabling on each concerned areas with experts
  • Drafting the Action Plan and policy of each tabled topics
  • 1st reading of the draft within the members
  • 2nd reading of the draft with the governing panels
  • Final sitting for draft approval along with the observers
  • Introduction and declaration of the action plan in the GA closing session

Governing Board

Working Members
  1. Selected NEIMUN Fellows (16-18 No.)
  2. Program Coordinator (2 No.)
  3. NEIMUN Secretariat (2 No.)

Observers
  1. Secretary General of NEIMUN
  2. President of NEIMUN GA replaceable by the NEIMUN Management Board Member

The NEIMUN Social Impact is a high level working committee of the NEIMUN Annual Action Plan comprised of talented youths who wanted to make real impacts recognized as the NEIMUN Fellows. The governing panels, members and observers are committed members to bring the action draft to a reality.

Basic Rules of Procedure:
  1. The observers are deemed necessary to attend the 1st meeting of the drafting committee and obliged to assist the planning board in the final approval of the action plan.
  2. The Secretary General will approve the draft with his/her formal signature
  3. The President of the GA will be introducing the finalized draft followed by his/her formal declaration of the action draft.
