NEIMUN Observes International Youth Day, 2024
On August 11, 2024, to celebrate the International Youth Day, NEIMUN Foundation hosted a special event in New Delhi on the theme: "Empowering the Next Generation: Digital Education as a Catalyst for Sustainable Growth." Inspired by the broader theme set by the UN, “From Clicks to Progress : Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”, the theme states that youth, as digital generations and visionaries, are the largest demographic of users and developers that shape digital trends globally, which makes them the driving force behind digitalization and innovation, and an essential demographic group in leveraging the transformative power of technologies to address global challenges. |
The event featured a keynote address by C. Lalmuan Sang Kimi, Associate Professor from the Centre for Media Studies, School of Social Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi. Prof. Kimi spoke passionately about the transformative potential of digital education in today's world and highlighted how digital tools and platforms are reshaping the educational landscape, making quality education more accessible to young people across different socio-economic backgrounds. Her address underscored the importance of integrating sustainable development goals (SDGs) into digital education frameworks, ensuring that youth are equipped with the knowledge and skills to drive progress in their communities.
In addition to the keynote address, the event also included an engaging Origami Workshop, facilitated by Mr. Shuma Ohashi and Ms. Saki Takikawa from Soka University, Japan. The origami workshop provided a hands-on learning experience which provided a chance for all the audiences to connect and engage with each other.
