NEIMUN achieves its mission to further the understanding of the United Nations, International Organisations and contemporary social problems through experience-based learning opportunities. NEIMUN is a youth led educational organization, based in North East India. We work closely with Schools, Colleges and Universities across North East India, organising Model United Nations, Youth Seminars, conferences, and encouraging extra co-curricular activities in their educational curriculum.
A regular event of NEIMUN is the Annual Conference, the first Model UN Conference in India’s North East Region. Participants leave with the insights needed to become better global citizens and the next generation of international leaders. Through our programs, we train students to become competent and passionate youth leaders. We are proud to be the first Model United Nations in India and amongst the Premier conferences across the world to utilize the UN4MUN Rules of procedure introduced by the United Nations Department for Public Information and endorsed by the World Federation of United Nations Association through their WIMUN Conference. We have been privileged to work together with Best Delegate, a leading Model United Nations company based in the US in training NEIMUN delegates at our conferences. Through these experiences, culminating in UN General Assembly plenary sessions, students develop an appreciation of the perspectives of other peoples, the frustration of negotiations, the rewards of cooperation, and a broader view of the human side of international relations and diplomacy. In addition to the UN Simulations, NEIMUN Social Impact Program, NEIMUN Speaker Series and other programs revolves around the UN Security Council 2250: Youth, Peace and Security, adopted by NEIMUN to be discussed the next 5 years to emphasize the importance of youth as agents of change in the maintenance and promotion of peace and security. NEIMUN's latest venture is the NEIMUN Research Department, with the support of angel investors, we will be involved in evidence based social research to promote youth issues in the region. The stories from the Humans of NEIMUN program will give you a glance of the NEIMUN Conferences through the lens of the delegates. We believe, that over 2000+ Young people at the NEIMUN Annual Conferences, NEIMUN Workshops, seminars and lectures, who attended the various NEIMUN programs since 2013, benefitted from our continuing work to sustain educational quality and strengthen linkages and understanding of the different International Organisations, linking the local issues with the Global context of policy making and creating a network of young leaders from the region. Looking ahead, we are at work to promote NEIMUN Conferences, training programs and promote the establishment of Model UN Clubs in interested Schools and Colleges across the region. Today, NEIMUN has 32 dedicated Young Leaders (Volunteers) leading various positions in the NEIMUN Secretariat, as Interns and as NEIMUN Ambassadors. Initially supported by the United Nations Development Program, India and Government of Nagaland, today NEIMUN is working with a growing network of partners and sponsors, among them, local government, foundations, universities, embassies and international agencies.
