The North East India International Model United Nations is a non-profit Educational foundation. The fifth Session of NEIMUN is in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and Best Delegate, USA. NIEMUN will host over 400 young leaders from 100+ Schools and colleges; bright students from across the Himalayan Mountain States and the rest of India. NEIMUN 2017 is a residential Leadership Conference where participants will discuss, deliberate and draft resolutions on topics of International Importance with focus on this year's theme: Youth Peace and Security.
PURPOSE
This year, NEIMUN is celebrating its Fifth year with the landmark UNSCR 2250 as its main theme. In December 2015,
the Security Council passed this groundbreaking resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, recognizing the importance and positive contribution of the youth in efforts for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security through decision-making to fighting violent extremism. NEIMUN as a youth-led organization pays heed to the importance that youths play in the region, and recognizes the important key role they can play in the prevention and resolution of conflict
NEIMUN SPEAKERS SERIES
Over the years, NEIMUN hosted eminent personalities in the Speaker Series like Mr. Paul Seong - Deputy Director USAID, U.S. Embassy India, Mr. River O'Nell Wallang- Former High Commissioner to Zambia and Malawi; Damon A. Williams - Vice Consul, US Consulate General, India; Dr. Bremley W.B. Lyngdoh, Founder & CEO Worldview Impact, London; Mr. Ryan Villanueva Co-Founder, Best Delegate USA; Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Former Governor of Nagaland and Manipur; Legislators, Bureaucrats, Business and non profit leaders from across Northeast India among others. NEIMUN 2017 will continue to bring such dynamic leaders to engage with young delegates throughout the course of the conference.
COMMITTEES
NEIMUN will be simulating four Committees under the UN General Assembly namely: Disarmament and International Security committee (DISEC), Economic and Financial committee (ECOFIN), Social, Humanitarian & Cultural committee (SOCHUM) and Special Political & Decolonization committee (SPECPOL) in both High School Level and College Level groups
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Any young leader aged between 16 - 25 years with interest in international affairs, the United Nations, local/international social issues, debating, and/or policy-making
WHAT TO EXPECT
NEIMUN will be conducting a 4 day Model United Nations Workshop cum United Nations General Assembly Simulations. Session possibly include:

- To impart talented and curious young leaders with insight on Global affairs, Multilateral Diplomacy, World Economy,United Nations and Peace building.
- Equip delegates with skills on Public speaking, Negotiating, Policy analysis, Conflict resolution, Group communication, Lobbying and Leadership.
