Phurpa Tsering INDIAN FOREIGN SERVICE MUSSOORIE, INDIA TRAINER, NEIMUN 2013 “My journey with NEIMUN began with its first edition held on 2013, where I was given the role of a trainer. I was still a student of international relations in my university in Jawaharlal Nehru University. I was fascinated with the international politics as a discipline. Naturally, NEIMUN gave me a platform to articulate a vision for a more equitable and just world order and it gave me a taste of diplomacy in action. The initiative for the first time allowed many students from across the northeast to come together and collaborate in a youth led initiative and most importantly in their own terms. It highlighted the oneness of the northeast. It was a feeling of empowerment. My determination to working in a field which gave me an exposure to policy making in international relations was further solidified. Therefore, I naturally chose to sit for the UPSC examinations and opt for Indian Foreign Services. I was fortunately selected for the service. In the future, I really hope to see NEIMUN further evolve in engaging our much invigorated youth to meaningful dialogues with itself for a brighter future for the coming generations. The platform led by the youth has great potential for change and we are in desperate need for it.”
