“The day I got my confirmation from NEIMUN, my happiness knew no bounds. United Nations is such a big organization, getting a chance to be a part of its simulation as a representative of a country is a dream turned into reality. NEIMUN was my first MUN as a delegate.
As I eagerly awaited the big day, a sense of responsibility also sank in. At the Inauguration ceremony, as we entered to the hall, the walk between the hosted flags gave me exhilaration. The speech by Limaben Jamir and the trainers from Best Delegate were very inspiring.
As the day progressed I made new friends at the training and interactive sessions and got over my introversion and fear of a new place.
We were grouped according to our committees as the main session began the next day. And suddenly it was my turn to speak. I was extremely nervous when I walked towards the dais. I was unable to make eye contact and was trembling. When I began my speech, I regained my composure and let it flow. No one laughed and everyone listened to each other patiently. We were like a small family that helped every member to bring out its best. We debated and brought up new ideas which were gained consensus after several brainstorming sessions. NEIMUN has helped me in giving voice to my thoughts. Memories like mimicking our trainer’s British accent, making drawings of delegates and passing them over, and unlimited selfies that we clicked together would always remain intact.
