THEME: "YOUTH PEACE AND SECURITY"
In December 2015, the Security Council passed the groundbreaking resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security recognizing the important and positive contribution of youth in the efforts for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security; from decision making to fighting violent extremism.
This year, NEIMUN is celebrating its fifth year with the landmark UNSCR 2250 as its main theme. The North East India International Model United Nations as a youth led organization pay heed to the importance of the youth in the region and recognizes the important role youths play in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and to create a more secure, peaceful and sustainable future.
Youth, Peace and Security as the main agenda for this year conference envisions a space to bridge and talk across generations through dynamic dialogues and debates to the world most critical and pertinent issues. It also aims to redefine peace contextually with ideas of security more broad based from economic to social realities, constructive outlook and, better mechanisms to cope the enormous challenges prevailing in our region.
