Message from the Office of the
United Nations India Resident Coordinator
United Nations India Resident Coordinator
THE MODEL UNITED NATIONS offers an excellent opportunity for young people to develop leadership, teamwork and diplomacy skills. All around the world, model UN conferences are being held to help the next generation of leaders acquire knowledge and skills to tackle global challenges.
Working with young people is a top priority for the United Nations Secretary-General and the United Nations in India. As part of the UN in India's growing engagement in the North East, it is our privilege to support the first session of the North East India International Model United Nations. In December 2013, hundreds of students from India and neighbouring countries will come together for three days in Kohima, Nagaland to find sustainable solutions to global challenges. The conference will offer a unique insight into the complex working of the UN system and an opportunity for cultural exchange and learning for the young delegates. Allow me to congratulate the North East India International Model United Nations for organizing this important conference. We also note the commitment and support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Nagaland to this initiative. |
