NEIMUN 2014 was not going to be just another MUN. It was going to be the venture that those 290 delegates would hold close to their hearts ages after the 3-day simulation.
To deliberate upon international understanding and diplomacy in a place where MUNs are basically unheard of and aspiring students are deprived of the right exposure, NEIMUN brought us the best trainers equipped with immense knowledge and unique teaching skills. The team of Best Delegate moulded my school of thought and inculcated in me the passion to realize dreams I had never dared to dream. The team's beaming smiles and never helpful nature taught me that behind every successful endeavor, lies the tireless effort of many.
Meeting Laurabeth Goldsmith, my trainer in SOCHUM, was a milestone that I’d be indebted to NEIMUN forever. Her vibrant and enthusiastic nature coupled with her unconventional and thought provoking take on things made her an instant hit amongst the delegates. Laurabeth, besides teaching me the core fundamentals of MUN’ing, also taught me team work and lobbying. It was her who had planted the seed of inspiration in me, to become a diplomat. Her indomitable spirit and constant encouragement brought to the forefront the very realization that, northeasterners today can indeed make progress by leaps and bounds to become the leaders of tomorrow. She made me believe in new aspirations and have the confidence in myself to dream and explore new fields and made me find a new avenue of prospective career. I shall be ever grateful to NEIMUN for the same.
Last October, I saw NEIMUN binding the diverse people of the northeast in a single thread of togetherness and unity. Laurabeth made this gigantic task somewhat easier through her ideals on cross-cultural diversity. Someday, if and when I become a real diplomat, I shall look back and realize the importance of the role Laurabeth has played and the enormity of the change NEIMUN has made.
