I’ve always been a mediocre guy, pretty good, but, not super fine at anything. And I never tried to find or seek that could bring a blaze in mind. Well, I would like to start by thanking Renjanthung L.Patton of BA 6th semester who introduced us to NEIMUN., a good professional leader and a friend who has a genuine passion to uplift young students at every level of society. He was not only the head delegate of Patkai Delegation but, also 2017 brand Ambassador of NEIMUN for Dimapur district. Now, you may be wondering ‘What is NEIMUN?’ in simplest term NEIMUN is a non-profit educational foundation where students learn about leadership, United Nations Organization, International issues, diplomacy and policy making. It was a 4 day semi international conference and I along with 6 of the delegates from our college had the honor and privilege not just representing ourselves but, several nations of the world.
I remember the first day of NEIMUN conference where I was standing alongside delegates from the entire country, particularly North East Region of India and make no mistake about it. Those delegates were smart, outspoken, poise and intelligent. Their thinking was not less than a sharp Naga Dao. When I joined NEIMUN, I joined with a purpose, with expectation that could bring blaze or flare to my mind. The moment I stepped my foot in NEIMUN conference I knew that this is what I always wanted to do. It took me to another level and it elevated my confidence to a whole new level. Being a global citizen I am very interested in world issues, interacting and establishing relationships with people from all walks of life which I was able to fulfil through NEIMUN. There we were fighting diplomatically over a fiscal policy and making resolution and in the course of that, improving our leaderships in all aspects. My interest lies in Global issues and NEIMUN is a platform for me where I can and could go beyond anything and learn every inch of it.
From the moment I stepped in General Assembly room, it was an eye opening to me. NEIMUN has introduced me to a novel marvel world. Because of NEIMUN I felt the earthquake of 9.5 closer, where the cries of the people were louder like never before. The aches of the people were so demonstrative and I ultimately got to know how the world was so cruel when it comes to diplomacy. Participating in NEIMUN has opened my mind and helped me to seek and discover trending issues in the world. It allowed me to use my voice edifyingly. The most worthy weapons that have been gifted is through diplomacy, a powerful and peaceful tool that can bind the world together. NEIMUN has instilled in me the power of dynamic leadership but also showed me a way how to bring the positive change. NEIMUN had not only helped me to discover what I am but it helped me to discover who really I am. It taught me to be diplomatic and to not only feel the weight upon my shoulder but to understand each other decisions and bring out necessary implications.
It is a platform for those students who really want to voice out for the change and it is also a platform for the students where they are given an opportunity to clear away the clouds of shame and fear by allowing themselves to be trained by dynamic leaders and trainers from all across the globe and ‘BEST DELEGATE’ which is an organization that provides mentors for Model UN students. Encouragement is much needed from the college as the students are representing in higher platform. I would encourage each and every student to know NEIMUN and also be part of NEIMUN because your contribution will make a complete positive change. Don’t just grumble inside the college campus, instead explore outside the college and meet different people with different ideas and perspectives."
